Figure there's a lot of shows out there that don't really need their own thread but that doesn't mean we can't talk about them. As a fan of television I'm always curious to know what other people are watching. And of what they're watching, what they're liking.
My DVR's usually stays pretty busy, though a few shows have recently ended and we're kind of in that gap between finales and returns. Anyway, here's what I'm watching now.
Hell on Wheels: The first two seasons weren't that great. Pretty sure the only reason I kept up with it was for my love of Westerns but I'm very pleased to say that season three seems to have improved quite a lot. Still not a Top Ten show but solid entertainment for a Saturday Night show.
Breaking Bad: Just gets better and better. The tension and the WTF! moments never let up lately. This is how a final season is supposed to feel. Constantly "nail biting".
The Newsroom: I absolutely love this show! I'm finding most people don't feel the same way but for me this might be the second best show on TV at the moment.
Beware the Batman: I was very skeptical of this show going in but it turned out to be quite badass. In the opening minutes of the first episode Batman dislocates his shoulder and slams it back into place. Not something you'll find on too many Saturday morning cartoons. Also, Alfred's a big, tough, former MI6 spy, and it looks like the producers are going to go with lesser known villains like Professor Pyg, Mr. Toad, Magpie) to name a few.
Ray Donovan: A little slow and a little moody but it really has picked up steam as the season goes along. Lotta interesting character and a lotta great acting.
Dexter: The current season seems to be full of odd stops and starts. Every time a storyline really gets interesting it's suddenly over. This being the final season I feel like Dexter should be put in jeopardy more than he has been. The entire series they've always tried to make the audience think Dexter might get caught or worse but we all knew there would be no series if that happened. Now that the series is ending there should be an "anything can happen" feel to things that just isn't there.
Suits: I'm not nearly as big a fan of this as some of my friends are. Mostly it's just a bunch of rich/powerful people worrying about losing some of that wealth/power. It's still got enough interesting characters to make it watchable though.
Graceland: It took me a few episodes to get into this one but I'm loving it now. It's sort of like "New York Undercover" meets "Entourage".
Under the Dome: Not since "Heroes" have I spent so much time complaining about a show only to continue watching week after week. Bad writing, bad acting, great premise.
Low Winter Sun: Three episodes in and I think I might be done with this. The actors try so hard to make you think something interesting is happening that it all just ends up looking very silly. Maybe even a worse failure for AMC then "Rubicon".
