THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON (Marvel)Directed by Joss Whedon A sequel to the 2012 blockbuster that chronicles the continuing adventures of the team of super humans known as The Avengers. Director Joss Whedon returns to the helm alongside producer, Marvel Executive Kevin Feige. Meanwhile the cast members returning for the sequel are Robert Downey Jnr., Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner and Scarlett Johansson. It's also expected that Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders will all reprise their roles too. In Summer 2013 it was all but confirmed that Aaron Taylor-Johnson of Kick-Ass fame would be joining the cast as Pietro Maximoff aka Quicksilver. It's believed that the comicbook heroes sister Wanda aka Scarlett Witch will also be cast while Anthony Mackie could be reprising his role as The Falcon from Captain America: The Winter Soldier. At San Diego Comic-Con, Kevin Feige insinuated the character of Hank Pym aka Ant-Man would not be involved despite appearing in the comic in which the sequel takes it's name and after months of rumours circulating in the fandom that the character was due to be introduced to the movie universe with in the next few years.

Is it weird that my enthusiasm for Avengers 2 is pretty muted? I really liked the first one and all the Marvel films, but I'm having trouble getting excited for this one, even as I expect I'll enjoy it just as much.

I wasn't a huge fan of the first one (apart from Scarlett Johanssen) but I'm pretty interested in this one. It looks to be taking itself a bit more seriously this time around. Though I think the last one did that too so who knows. I kinda thought Marvel might be sliding away from the whole force a joke in there every five minutes or less thing with Winter Soldier but then Guardians happened. To be fair though, Guardians humour hit a lot more than it missed.
