We have made our final decisions and, after some wonderful pitches this past weekend, we can proudly reveal which projects we will be picking up for 2014. To find out which pitches we've selected, listen to the latest episode of Compass Echoes, hosted by Dan Taylor with comments from Kyle West. 2. #TheNewYear at Compass Well done, to all those who now have the opportunity to develop their projects at Compass! Please now get in touch with the Network Director who manages the section you will be providing material for (Dan Taylor for video, Kyle West for audio, RJ Alden Lackie for script), and we can plot your next steps!
(A text article will be released this weekend, confirming the winners. For now, it's just audio![/div]

Congrats to all the winners! Looks like we've gotta pretty awesome year ahead of us. Also, great job on the new episode of Compass Echoes. I only say that because me and my show were mentioned. Even if my name was slightly mispronounced.

Dan is awful at pronouncing names. Fact.

oh my name was hilariously mispronounced.
For future reference, it's like saying: Shree-ni Maa-the-vn
(that's probably still confusing but it's the closest I can get to it)

Yeah I originally cut a whole section where I discussed how awful I was at pronuncing names, I'm just as bad on The Beautiful Game!
So yeah, apologies.

No problem, I get a lot of entertainment value out of hearing people trying to pronounce my name - always laugh-worthy.

Congrats to all! I also believe that 2014 is going to be a really awesome year! Here and *cough* somewhere else! And Srini - I cannot wait for this short movie - I'm awesome fan of everything 'movie' - I think it's like the ultimate stage of entertainment in the web forum.

Excited about getting to do these projects - Both Worlds and Writers Bloc have been on my mind for a while, and I was glad the Pitch Frenzy got me off my butt to properly pitch them!

Confirming, in writing, the winners of the first ever PITCH FRENZY:
The Black Hole [Podcast / Tony Black] Join infamous writer and chicken lover, Tony Black, as he ventures into his very own personal podcast - THE BLACK HOLE (what an inevitable title!)
He's primarily going to talk about entertainment he loves devouring like a space-borne, matter chewing entity - movies, TV, books, comics, games etc... but he may also venture into discussing his life, liberty & the pursuit of happiness (not the Will Smith film, you understand?).
Anyway, tune in to hear his silky Midlands voice entertain you, with potentially the help now and then of certain friends & colleagues - online, in real life and maybe even imaginary - in all things fun & entertaining.
Unavowed [Short Film / Srini Madhavan] When his brother gets killed trying to stop a violent mugging, Tim must come to terms with his brother's death, as well as ensure it wasn't all in vain.
Animation Damnation [Podcast / Patrick Moore] What do a 36 year old man who's a major fan of cartoons past and present think of them after childhood? Find out in Animation Damnation, an audio show dedicated to the cartoon world and the host's thoughts on them from his POV. Everything from American, Canada, Japan anime, even CGI, no cartoon is safe.
Worlds [Script Webisode / RJ Alden Lackie] December 31, five minutes to midnight. In small-town Canada, a young girl dreams of adventure. In downtown New York, a grieving mother yearns for hope. On the colourful planet of Grenade, a wearied warrior begs for peace. In the hidden spaces of a small spaceship, a young man plans for revenge. And at the heart of the worlds, an ancient force begins an assault that will destroy the universe. Welcome to the New Year.
The Bishop Files [Podcast / Andrew Bishop] What's on my mind? Why is it that the world spins around the sun? Why are people different? Why is it that I'm stuck in a black hole and single? Why is it that it seems that everyone or everything is against me? Well, it's my chance to look at stupid things that go on in this world and try to face them with my small mind! You might be surprised what I'm thinking about!
Also, being a movie nut I want to take a look at my favorite movies and movies coming out in the weeks, months and years to come - and consider WHAT THE HECK Hollywood is doing? I don't claim to be a professional when it comes to reviewing movies but...if a movie sucks I'm going to tell you straight up; not really taking into consideration that you like the movie (lol) Anyways, that is what makes the world go round - DIFFERENCES!
Kingston & Glass [Script Webisode / Kyle West] For the longest time, superpowers were something you only ever read about in comics, or saw in big budget Hollywood movies (or rubbish low budget ones). All that changes, when a freak event gives countless people in the United Kingdom their very own unbelievable abilities. The only problem is, every single one of these fuckers decided to become a supervillain.
All except one, that is. Enter Kevin Glass, the man with the ability to make your drink hot or cold, simply by touching your cup. Before getting his power, Kevin was inspired by his surname to clean glass for a living, becoming a window cleaner. Although his superpower is shit, he's the only one who isn't using his abilities to cause mayhem across the UK, so the Government sign him up to their brand new task force assigned to take down every one of these supervillains.
His partner? The highly regarded Detective Wayne Kingston, a man who has screwed up his career too many times by breaking the rules to catch the bad guys. If you want to stop the super-villains, you want Kingston in your task force, but if you want to make sure he still pays the price for his past misdemeanours, you partner him up with Kevin Glass. They put the odd in “odd couple”, and Kingston fucking hates Glass.
Join this supervillain fighting duo, as they try to stop the bad guys, one webisode at a time.
The Writers' Bloc [Podcast / RJ Alden Lackie & Stéphane Lachance] Two emerging screenwriters in Toronto, Canada (sometimes with guests!) discuss screenwriting, the Canadian/US film/TV industries, movies, TV series, post-university life and whatever else is on their mind!
