Welcome to THE COMPASS NETWORK
The Compass Network, casually called Compass by its members, is showcase for independent creators who want to build a community with one another, with the added benefit of sharing their work! Whether you want to create from your basement or shoot for the stars, Compass offers the talented diamonds in the rough a chance to shine.
Our goal is to create a community for independent creators, screenwriters and creatives a place to bond, commiserate and create together. We want to be a haven for creators who are otherwise floating out in the ether of the internet, trying to develop an audience on their own. With your help, Compass could change the game of how independent voices break into the greater consciousness.
And if that sounds a little high-minded to you, we're also hoping to be a hell of a lot of fun.
The Map
You clearly know about The Heart of the Compass - you're there right now! In addition to a place where new members can get up to speed, it's also our social centre at Compass. Converse, connect before you create! The Heart has places to chat generally, as well as professionally-geared discussion forums about writing, production and business. Have other big topics you think should have a place here? Message RJ Alden Lackie about it! At the Heart, you'll get the chance to let loose - chat about TV, movies, sports, politics, whatever with the rest of the community! While we expect you'll find fans with common interests at the points, the Heart is where you'll find plenty of others with similar tastes - and maybe make a few friends.
Next is The Library on the Hill, where our educational initiatives are based. Here, you can find fascinating Reading Materials that illuminate and explore important topics in creation, from all around the web; The Workshop, where folks can come together to help kick projects into shape; and the currently-developing Compass Lessons & Tutorials, a spot for more direct 'how to' learning.
And finally there's The Studio on the Edge of Town, the cool 'downtown' spot where all of our project showcases are: ongoing script series like Caydem Falls, standalone screenwritten showcases in our Compass Original Screenplays & Miniseries and our produced showcases, Compass
At each of these destinations you will find exciting things that will enrich and excite you. There you'll have the opportunity to discuss each one with other fans and become part of the community.
Ultimately, we want the community to bond, connect, and to have the chance relax and chat together.
Member Behaviour
Before you explore the site, we're going to ask you to review our behaviour guidelines, just so everybody is on the same page. We want a community where everyone is comfortable, after all!
Thanks for reviewing and following the above! A little law and order makes sure everyone can have as much fun as they can without stepping on everyone else's toes.

Member Behaviour
Before you explore the site, we're going to ask you to review our behaviour guidelines, just so everybody is on the same page. We want a community where everyone is comfortable, after all!
- Naming Conventions: While this is the internet and we want everyone to be comfortable, we'd like everyone's usernames to match the name they prefer to be addressed. Whether a given name like RJ Alden Lackie or a pseudonym like Joanna Shipwrecker, it will help keep everyone on level ground name-wise.
- Language: This is an adult community, so respectable levels of casual profanity are acceptable. We're a fun place where adults come to chat, after all! However, we are also a No Hate community, and any racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic or other hatespeech will carry significant penalties anywhere from a warning to expulsion from the site.
- Arguments: While friendly debate and difference of opinion is the centre of a fun and comfortable community, please do your best to stay respectful and intelligent. Debate the topic, not each other. We love a bracing discussion as much as anyone, but don't be an asshole.
- Spelling & Grammar: While we don't have a resident grammar Nazi, we do expect our members to use proper English instead of "text-speak" or abbreviations that you might find in a text message or chat room.
- Spam & Trolling: Nobody likes a spammer so please don't spam the forums with advertisements, self-promotion, website links etc...as only approved affiliates are allowed to share their content with us. And while we're all open to a bit of constructive criticism, blatant troll-like-behaviour will be taken extremely seriously!
- Plagiarism: If we get even a whiff that your script has been plagiarized from any other source, we will do a full investigation and, if we find evidence that you have plagiarized, will ask you to leave Compass. We have a no tolerance policy for plagiarism. After seeing how hard our artists work to create original work, can you blame us?
Thanks for reviewing and following the above! A little law and order makes sure everyone can have as much fun as they can without stepping on everyone else's toes.
