Hot on the heels of the arrival of Tomb Raider, MZPtv is proud to announce the commission of another exciting project: Sins of an Ancient Empire. Created by J.B. Gibson ( Star Wars, The Pillars, Spider-Man: Gifts and Curses), and described as drawing influence from the huge sweep of Game of Thrones and the concise yet complex True Detective, Sins of an Ancient Empire represents MZPtv's first foray into epic fantasy. Set on a different world than ours, the Kingdom of Norcora is in the midst of a tragedy: the King has been assassinated, the Prince is missing, and something in the shadows is beginning to flirt with the light. Sins of an Ancient Empire revolves around several major characters who are pieces in a puzzle that will reveal a rich world of Myth and History. From battles to politics, violence to heart, Sins aims to bring a grand adventure and quest to its readers with engaging mysteries and a deep mythology for all to enjoy. Series creator J.B. Gibson said "Sins has been something I've been working on for about 15 years. It's gone through major revisions, many titles, and multiple characters. But there is one thing that has always been there: the history and mythology. I feel that now is the time to get it out there and see what others think as I share my adventure." With a first season comprising 8-10 episodes, Sins of an Ancient Empire will premiere exclusively on MZPtv next year. In the meantime, keep your eyes peeled for news of J.B. Gibson's next venture into the world of Star Wars, coming soon… www.mzp-tv.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=5594.0

It's an exciting time here at MZPtv - and for our third new project we're delighted to announce the commissioning of The Smile of the White Lady, created by Andrew Corvero ( My Dearest Friend, Kings Cross). Set across multiple time periods, Smile follows the story of multiple characters whose destinies are tied together by the White Lady, a supernatural being which first appears in the series stalking the enigmatic "feral child" Kaspar Hauser. Loosely inspired by a real life unsolved mystery, Smile revolves around the secrets behind Kaspar's identity and death and how they affect Ben Stanhope, a descendant of a British lord who took care of Kaspar and tried to find out the truth about his origins. Ben is haunted by the White Lady, helped by his psychologist, Alice Munro, and the object of the investigation of Inspector Markov of the Saint Petersburg police. A very dark series in tone, Smile aims to blend supernatural horror, historical and psychological drama, and to surprise its readers with shocking twists and revelations rooted in some of the spookiest pages of the 19th century history. Andrew Corvero said "Smile of the White Lady is a mini series that brings together many things that I enjoy: psychological horror, real life mysteries and historical drama. It's my darkest idea by far and my first foray at horror, but the pitch seems to have been captured many people's attention, so I hope it'll live up to the hype!" A mini-series comprising three episodes, The Smile of the White Lady is set to join Tomb Raider and Sins of an Ancient Empire exclusively on MZPtv next year. www.mzp-tv.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=5595.0

We have just enough time for one more pickup announcement this week - and believe me, it's a doozy! Adam Scott and Kyle MacDonald boldly go where no Trek has gone before with STAR TREK: EVE OF DESTRUCTIONSet 100 years before the time of Captain James T. Kirk's five year mission into the unknown, Star Trek: Eve of Destruction shows a universe torn apart by war with a terrifying new enemy - the Romulans. Disgraced former Starfleet pilot William Tiberius Church and his rag-tag group of Home Guard volunteers find themselves shanghaied into service for the war effort, and in the process they'll discover a terrifying secret at the heart of the war ... a secret some of their allies are prepared to kill to protect. Co-creator Adam Scott has this to say on his latest project: "The war with the Romulans has always fascinated me, a piece of Trek lore we've only heard pieces of over the years. This was too good an opportunity to pass up. Me and Kyle want to combine the epic sweep of Star Trek with the gritty, lived in quality of classic war movies. It's fair to say this is going to be a completely new vision of the Star Trek universe, and one that shows what humanity is capable of when its back is against the wall." Fellow creator Kyle MacDonald adds: "I'm thrilled to be working with Adam on this project, bringing to life an era of the Trek Universe that has until now only been hinted at". And producer Pete D. Gaskell threw his view into the ring too, stating that "The Romulan Wars are a fascinating time period of Trek history that largely remains a mystery. I can think of no better writers than Adam and Kyle to fill in some of these blanks and begin a whole new chapter for Trek on MZPtv." Star Trek: Eve of Destruction is the first project of our hoped-for summer blockbuster season next year - stay tuned for announcements of more upcoming movie projects in the near future... www.mzp-tv.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=5597

The MZPtv team is delighted to announce the commissioning of its first prose projects since affiliate series "Ravenshill" aired on the network almost a decade ago. Adapting their previous scripted series ideas into a new format, Tony Black's FRONTIER and Li Robb's WAR OF AGES will spearhead an expansion of MZPtv's content for the year 2015. FRONTIER is an original sci-fi mystery about the crew of the spaceship Icarus, a shuttle undertaking an historic voyage, that of a team of astronauts destined to be the first people to walk on the surface of Mars. 78 days into the journey, however, everything changes. Encountering a bizarre phenomenon in space, the crew of the Icarus are plunged into a situation that will change their lives, and those of them they've left behind, forever. And in doing so, they may find the answer to one of the greatest mysteries in the history of mankind... Creator Tony Black added, "I honestly thought I was done with Frontier when I abandoned scriptwriting, though this story just will not go away. My plan is to write a series of books collectively known as the Frontier Saga, and you will be getting exclusive first looks via MZPtv of book one, 'A Wilderness of Horrors', as I finally hopefully tell what I consider to be my original magnum opus... or at least my first one!" WAR OF AGES is an original epic fantasy that tells the story of the various countries of Tellere, as nations rise and fall in the aftermath of a hundred year war. The Kingdom, Menlow, Nifland, Rowena, Miranesh, all once great and proud nations. But now Menlow bargains with the Kingdom for land stolen in the war, Nifland is under siege from those once their own, Rowena faces a silent and unseen enemy, and Miranesh cries out for help against a dark and monstrous foe. With empires fractured by prejudice and greed and alliances being torn apart by fear and betrayal, who shall stand when all is done? "I'm very excited to bring War of Ages back to MZPtv in a different format, as a project I've not-so-secretly been working on for months", said Li. "This is very much a work in progress novel (series), with the intention of one day having it professionally published. So you guys are getting a first look, chapter by chapter, and I'm very grateful to have some potential guinea pigs! I hope you guys enjoy the first book 'From The Fires'."
MZPtv founder Lee A. Chrimes added, "We hope that starting to make prose a larger part of the MZPtv experience will broaden both our audience and opportunities, giving current writers new storytelling tools and allowing new community members more ways they can create and develop their own projects. At the end of the day, all we want to do is tell stories the best we can, and the more ways we have to do that, the better. Look out for more prose projects - adaptations and new concepts - coming from MZPtv over the next twelve months." If you have a project that suits the prose format, or perhaps have been holding onto a story that you'd like to tell MZPtv's audience, our doors are now fully open for you. If you have any questions about pitching projects written in prose, please don't hesitate to ask. In the meantime, to whet your appetite, we've also got an exclusive preview of Li Robb's War of Ages in the linked thread below. Enjoy. www.mzp-tv.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=5598.0

Another proud day for MZPtv as we announce the commissioning of Purgatory from debut showrunner S.A. Goodman! Taking inspiration from the Joss Whedon sci-fi/western series 'Firefly', Purgatory is set in the Old West of 1865 - with the unrest of the American Civil War still in people's minds, sudden rise of Outlaws across the lands and discovery of a strange town. The story tells of a group of people who band together and do whatever it takes to protect the town's secrets, while also mixing with the true story of the period involving a conspiracy theory behind the murder of Abraham Lincoln, and rise in power of President Andrew Johnson. Showrunner S.A. Goodman said "I'm thrilled to be given the green light and begin production on my first foray as creator of a VS. I hope people will join me as I take us back to the Old West, and enjoy as we unlock the secrets behind the mystery surrounding the town - as well as a theory behind the assassination of President Lincoln and all those believed involved. So, dust off those cowboy boots - wrap that holster around your waist and head back to when the west was truly wild!" The show will roll out in mid 2015 with a first season consisting of 10 Episodes. While the general concept of the overall show will be your typical Western, the series will delve into several genres along the route including a hint of sci-fi to support it. We look forward to providing more updates as we get closer to airing. www.mzp-tv.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=5617.0
